Prize: $500 and public premiere by the Buffalo Chamber Players. $200 travel stipend and housing provided.
Open to: All composers
The Buffalo Chamber Players announce their inaugural Composition Competition. Composers may submit chamber works for 3-8 players from the following instrumentation: fl/ob/cl/bcl/bsn/hn/tpt/tbn/btbn/tba/2 vln/vla/vc/cb. Works for 1-2 players or works containing piano will not be considered. The work should be between 7-10 minutes in duration and not have had a prior public performance. Works that have participated in readings are admissible. The winner’s work will be premiered during the final concert of the BCP 2011-2012 concert season on Wednesday, May 30, 2012. Winners are required to attend the premiere.
Please send: anonymous score, anonymous recording if available (MIDI realizations are acceptable) and a sealed envelope containing the entry fee and an information sheet with the work’s title, composer’s name, brief biography, address, telephone, and email. Include SASE for return of materials. Materials must be received by February 1, 2012.
